The Father would glorify the Son, and through the Son\u2019s obedience to the Father, the humankind would witness the glory of the Father.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus intentionally prays to the Father out loud in the disciples hearing, allowing the disciples to hear His heart, identity and experience the intimacy between God the Father and His Son.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus fully understands His mission and allows His disciple a glimpse into eternity when He says to the Father, <strong><em>\u201cI have glorified You (past tense) on the earth having accomplished (past tense) the work You gave Me to do.\u201d <\/em><\/strong>These words point to an accomplished event in eternity.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus praying for the disciples as if He was already gone from their presence, and praying for those who would come to believe because of their message no doubt left the disciples afraid, confused and perplexed.<\/p>\n<p>One can only imagine what the disciples must have thought in hearing Jesus speak these words.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHad Jesus\u2019 mission come to end?\u201d And if so, \u201cwhat\u2019s next for us?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As we continue our discussion in John chapter 17 there are some things that I would like us to take a deeper look into:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The word \u201cGlory\u201d and \u201cGlorify\u201d and how it relates to the Cross, and Spiritual Sons<\/li>\n<li>Eternal life<\/li>\n<li>Spiritual birth<\/li>\n<li>What is the nuance behind \u201cIn Your Name\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2026 February 8th Streaming John chapter 17 takes place immediately after the Upper Room discourse (John 13-16)\u00a0and is just before Jesus goes to Gethsemane.
