Is “Revelation” for Today?

The church struggles today to understand the meaning and relevance of God’s revelation. For years I asked if revelation was applicable today; and if so, what does it look like? I would ask …. now that we have the Bible, is further revelation even needed? If I needed revelation, then how could I receive it? For over 30 years I bought volumes of books, study guides and bible commentaries. My spiritual suitcase was packed with the most eclectic combination of legalism, liberties, the shepherding and Lordship movement, pre, mid and post Tribulation Rapture theories, baptism in the Holy Spirit – or not. I had opinions on everything – but was sure of nothing. Sadly, this is the state of most Christians today.

For the born-again believer, spiritual revelation is at the core of knowing our Identity as Christ. ‘Revelation’ is the revealing of our new creation birthing and what drives the renewing of our minds and the knowledge of our oneness with the Identity of Christ. Without revelation we are forced to try to understand spiritual truths with our natural mind and destined to live the ‘two person’ Gospel – that gospel where Christ and I abide together in our ‘hearts’ as two separate people. It is that same gospel that forces me to be perfected and completed in the flesh. Revelation is beyond mere enlightenment. It is the spiritual deep thoughts and purposes of God, speaking and revealing to our spirit that we are the Sons of God.

I have traveled a long road to be standing here today. Is revelation relevant – is it for today? As our brother David would say, let’s talk about it.
