The message this week is on the need to identify with the intent to comfort. For many years I’ve heard and have seen so many people say “yep, I know just what you’re going through.  I had the same thing happen to me. And, believe me, I know exactly how you’re feeling.”  Or this, “well, I wish I could say I don’t know what you’re talking about and going through. But I do.“   While someone is going through a difficult time, whether they are responsible for it or not, we often attempt to find common ground or identify with them during these times by aligning ourselves with that situation to show how much we understand.  But, is this best thing for them? Is it the best way to comfort them?  Is this what God has provided to comfort someone going through circumstances & situations?  I’ve also heard this coming from the other side of the discussion as well.  Things like, “well, you can’t provide me anything until you’ve walked in my shoes for a while.” Or, “please I need someone who’s gone through what I’m going through to really understand my need.”  All of these have one thing in common.  Let’s talk about it…
