When You Believe God Has Failed

The Church today is full of hopeless individuals who live day to day believing that the right attitude, prayer, change of habits or medication will heal their dead existence. They live Sunday to Sunday hoping their faith is real and that God actually cares. They leave every Sunday morning believing that there has got to be more than going back and forth between doing right and doing wrong. Like a squirrel on the interstate, our fragile identities leave us to be roadkill; just waiting for the wrong event at the right moment to lay us waste. I am not going to speak as to the why, but to the what we understand when those times happen. Those times when we cry to our Father in hurt and anger, “Do you not care, why have you forsaken me?” If you have never experienced this moment, then you have never come to the end of yourself – the end of your strength.
