2025 November 2nd Streaming
This week we will begin our Introduction to the gospel of John chapters 13,14,15,16, and 17 which are identifying as the “Upper Room Discourse.” Each week we will delve into each chapter of the discourse to see the depth of Jesus’ final discussion with his disciples. Many believe and are taught that the “Upper Room Discourse” refers specifically to the “Lord’s Supper.” These five chapters go much deeper than just the action of washing the feet of others or eating lamb with bread and drinking wine which religion has made into an “ordinance of the faith.” This is just one of the many practices and commands Jesus gave to his disciples. As with many things in man-made religion, they see the splinter and blind to the beam! The Spiritual depth Jesus is communicating in this discourse is far greater than just having a meal together. Of course the last supper has its place in Jesus’ journey to the cross. But in this discourse, he delivers several Spiritual revelations and insights that carry a much greater weigh into the purpose, intent, and plan of God the Father.
What do we know about the timing and place concerning this particular supper and discourse that followed? This meal was established by God while Israel was captivity in Egypt. It was the final act of God through Moses for the release of His people Israel before He brought them out of bondage. It was the beginning of the Passover feast. This was last meal Israel would eat in their captivity in Egypt! Sadly, many are stuck with this one aspect of the discourse center around this last meal Jesus ate! This discourse with the disciples would go for several hours and well into the evening! It was the beginning of a very long night for Jesus! Let’s talk about it…
